Arts & Culture

Hot Springs continues to be ranked high on The 100 Best Small Art Towns in America. Hot Springs' Fine Arts District, in historic downtown, is filled with artists that have renovated Victorian and early twentieth-century buildings into galleries and studio spaces. Opening receptions for new exhibits of international, national and local artists are held at the galleries the first Friday of each month, and the artists are often present to discuss their work. The Antique Walk along our historic Antique Row should not be missed. It is held the third Friday of every month.

Art Festivals and Events

The Hot Springs Documentary Film Festival, considered by many to be the premier documentary film festival in the country, attracts thousands of people to Hot Springs each October. The Hot Springs Documentary Film Institute also hosts film events throughout the year at the Malco Theatre, located in historic downtown. (Note: The Malco Theatre in Hot Springs has a 'haunted history' and an apparition of a woman is said to haunt the theatre basement, even today).Phone: 501-321-4747, Website: www.HSDFI.org

The Hot Springs Music Festival brings together 250 international musicians each June in the historic Spa City. Over 20,000 people attended events last year, and an additional 6.4 million heard its concerts on nationwide radio broadcasts. Phone: 501-623-4763, Website: www.HotMusic.org

The Hot Springs Jazz Fest, held each September, features nationally recognized traditional and modern jazz artists. Phone: 501-767-0211

Performing Arts

The Hot Springs/Hot Springs Village Symphony Guild supports and promotes the Arkansas Symphony orchestra, making a wide variety of professional musical concerts available to the community. Many Symphony Guild concerts are presented free of charge, and others have a nominal ticket charge to cover expenses. The Guild further supports and encourages music education for young people in the Hot Springs area. Phone: 501-922-6270, Website: www.SymphonyGuild.org
